Day Service Assistant Manager

SALARY: £20,000 p.a.

HOURS: 37.5

SHIFT: Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm

LOCATION: Newton Close, Lordswood

ABOUT THE ROLE:DAY SERVICE ASSISTANT MANAGER

The Assistant Manager will both support and deputize for the Manager.

They will be responsible for ensuring high quality , person-centred support. They will ensure support teams have the skills and competences required and will provide developmental focus. Also, working hands on alongside their team providing guidance and support; helping them to develop in their roles and supporting a positive working culture.

They will undertake administrative tasks as required and develop and maintain effective communication systems within the team and other services. With the ability to communicate and build relationships with people from all walks of life. Liaising with families, health care professional and other stakeholders to ensure that the best care is provided.

Have knowledge and experience of administering medication.

Deal with challenging situations quickly, resolving them by being able to think on their feet.

Ideally, you will already be an experienced Assistant Manager that has led a committed team of experienced and new to care staff within a service for people with autism.

Experienced staff will already be working in the field of autism, learning disabilities or mental health care/support (£500 golden hello paid for 2 yearsplus specialist experience).

About the Service: Lock Street

Lock Street is a day centre for adults with Autism and learning difficulties.

We have 7 adults that come from home to use our service and 4 that come from our KAT residential services. They attend each day, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4.30pm. Some of the people who attend the day service have 1:1 support, we also support an individual in Outreach 2:1.

Our service is open plan with some separate social spaces. There are workstation areas and a communal kitchen to prepare lunches and other cooking activities.

We have a teach board that is completed each day with everyone\'s timetables and activities.

The people we support participate in lots of activities, these can include, Bowling, Sailing, Snooker, Horse Riding, day trips to the beach and Countryside, Trampolining, Swimming, Golf, and lots more. We also have an Allotment that we use for growing fruit and veg.

We also do many in house activities; Aromatherapy, Yoga, Gardening, Computers and X-box.

We are quite a large staff team of 10 with lots of experience in promoting positive support and encouragement, whilst working as an amazing team.

Tasks / Responsibilities of a Day Service Assistant Manager:

The Day Service Assistant Manager role may include but not be limited to:

o Support and Deputise for the Manager.
o Ensure support teams have the skills and competences required.
o Provide coaching and mentoring to staff.
o Contribute to the recruitment, appointment, and induction of staff.
o Support with supervisions, absence management, disciplinary and grievance issues.
o Promote positive and affective team working through good communication and regular team meetings.
o Monitor training plans to ensure staff training is up to date and meets KAT mandatory training requirements.
o Ensure that appropriate person-centred support arrangements are in place.
o Undertake administrative tasks as required e.g. staff records, management returns and maintaining records.
o Monitor all financial matters relating to the service in accordance with policies and procedures.
o Liaise with external professionals, individuals and families as required.
o Ensure health and safety requirements are met within services and comply with Health and Safety Legislation.
o Plan and implement service development along with the Manager.


o Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks and shopping,
o Uphold their privacy, confidentially and dignity
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Administering medication
o Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
o Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o May include lone working
o Drive an individuals mobility car or service vehicle Manual Licence required (Optional)
