IT Development Manager in the housing sector, based in Sevenoaks, up to £48,000 depending on experience.

* Overall responsibility for the prioritisation, allocation and delivery of development projects/tasks
* Line management responsibility for the Software Developer and Junior Software Developer
* Membership of Line Managers Team and provision of cover form Head of IT if required
* Develop and maintain West Kent's key business systems and associated data interfaces / integration
* Act as technical manager for development projects
* Ensure West Kent's core business applications, databases and interfaces are properly maintained and enhanced in collaboration with internal and external application support.
* Ensure that key processes, such as mobile working software solutions are designed and built in line with business requirements
* Manage the implementation of new business systems
* Ensure that the development and testing environments are kept up to date.
* Make sure the technical specifications and documentation for systems and data interfaces are kept up to date

* Engage stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues to promote continuous improvement in IT throughout West Kent

* Build strong relationships with business users and understand their ongoing requirements
* Understand business critical priorities across all teams to support business continuity and the crisis management plan

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

* Experience of managing a development team and leading development projects
* Experience in the use of development tools, guidelines and conventions including .NET, Microsoft SQL Server (including stored procedures)
* SQL Server Reporting Services inc. reporting on data warehouses
* Scripting skills such as PowerShell
* The creation of Entity Relationship Diagrams, understanding class design etc.
* Highly developed technical analysis and creative problem solving skills
* Ability to communicate complex technical issues to business users
* Ability to proactively manage tasks and prioritise own workload
* Ability to learn new systems and languages
* Good attention to detail while also maintaining a high level understanding of business requirements
* Ability to analyse data and recommend improvements to data integrity
* Able to develop new systems and processes to deliver better service
* Excellent customer service skills

Knowledge of the following would be highly beneficial:

* Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL
* Progress WebSpeed
* NDL MX mobile development (language similar to VB script)
* NDL SX integration scripting
