Leading Edge is an award-winning large packaging printer based in Gravesend, Kent. It supplies major European FMCG Brands and UK retailers with bespoke printed packaging for their products.

A vacancy has arisen for a time served multiskilled engineer (electrical/mechanical) to work within the engineering department, which is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all our production machinery.

Our ideal candidate will:

• Have good problem-solving skills (electrical & mechanical fault finding)
• Have experience working on high speed automated production machinery
• Be fully conversant in using workshop machinery (Lathe, Milling machine, Pillar drill, Bench grinder, MIG and Arc welder).
• Have good interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with supervisors/operators in the production area.
• Have experience working on pneumatic circuits.
• Be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
• Be flexible, self-motivated and hard working with a can-do attitude.
• Possess good housekeeping standards.

The Role

• Undertake fault diagnosis and repairs to production equipment in a safe and timely manner.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to all our production machinery following itemised service worksheets.
• Carry out installation work on new and relocated machinery.
• Assist in the installation of new machinery and modifications to existing machinery.
• Keep accurate records and be able to deliver engineering best practices as well as following Health & Safety rules at all times.

A background gained within a print or packaging industry would be ideal, however experience within any fast moving/automated manufacturing environment is essential for this busy role.
