Summary
Supersonic Playground is Kent’s leading WordPress and WooCommerce web design agency. We pride ourselves on creating beautifully designed Custom WordPress Websites for a wide range of clients, including small-to-medium-sized businesses throughout London and the south-east, as well as well-known brands such as Virgin Care, NHS and Hospice UK.

We have ambitious growth plans and we’re looking for an ambitious, talented and passionate Front End and WordPress Web Developer to join our growing team in a very unique opportunity. You’ll have experience in delivering and executing beautiful, high-level websites for a wide variety of clients and sectors.

The role is a hybrid and has two key components. Firstly, you’ll need to be proficient creating custom WordPress themes and outputting content using well-known WordPress plugins including Advanced Custom Fields and WooCommerce for eCommerce. A certain level of PHP proficiency is desirable. Secondly, you’ll need to be able to take the custom theme and outputted content and complete the front-end development using HTML5, CSS3 and potentially jQuery.

We have very high standards in the projects that we deliver for our clients, so a meticulous eye and a high level of attention, and a thoroughness in testing your work are essential.

You’ll be ambitious, driven and a self-starter. You should be passionate about all forms of web design and you should have a proven track record of delivering engaging websites that are built to the highest standards, always looking to push the boundaries of what can be achieved. You should also show a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude. We work with a wide range of clients and projects, so you should show versatility and adaptability, and be comfortable working across different types of projects.

You must be able to demonstrate a solid portfolio of real-world projects and have at least 5 years’ experience at a digital agency or similar background. Formal development education is required, with a degree desirable but not essential.

In the longer term, Supersonic Playground has solid growth ambitions so there will be opportunities for career progression into team leadership and people management if this is something of interest to the successful candidate.

Key requirements

Formal development education – minimum A level/GNVQ/Diploma in a relevant subject. Degree preferable but not essential.
5+ years of design agency or similar experience
Expert knowledge of creating custom WordPress themes using Advanced Custom Fields and WooCommerce
Expert knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
Structured, organised and efficient code that can easily be worked on by other team members
Javascript and jQuery desirable, but not essential (training can be provided)

Meticulous attention to detail – you take pride in your work and strive to the highest standards
Able to adapt working practices and follow company systems and frameworks so that work is consistent across projects

Key responsibilities

To deliver high-quality custom WordPress websites through the creation of custom WordPress themes and high-quality front-end development
To work closely with the project manager and clients to understand project requirements
To take project wireframes, designs and specifications supplied by the designers and execute the fully built website through to completion, overseeing the project and working with designers to ensure it meets the original project vision
To ensure all client deadlines are met
To keep abreast of latest industry developments, trends and techniques, and be able to implement them where appropriate
To learn, develop and grow as a designer by constantly learning new tools, techniques and technologies
