Junior Technical Sales Engineer

Portable Power Technology specialise in designing and supplying power solutions to the leisure, commercial, mobile and off grid markets with over 15-years of experience we are seen as technical experts in our sector.

PPT is looking for a Junior Technical sales Engineer who will join our small hardworking team of enthusiastic and passionate individuals to help our existing and new customers via email / phone with any technical enquires or support they have in regard to our products and complete systems.

The role will also require you to design and specify custom systems in a range of applications and markets.

As a small team there are other duties that will be expected of you such as but not limited to:

• Pick and pack goods from warehouse
• Stock management (filling shelves, monitor levels)
• Receiving, checking and booking in goods
• Order processing if needed
• Basic in-house repairs
• Product testing

We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills both verbally and written. Previous experience in electrical engineering and/or an understanding of AC and DC electrical principles and circuits will be an advantage however full training and education is available for the right person.

A suitable university degree or further education (e.g. electrical engineering / renewable energy) will also be an advantage.

Previous experience in the automotive, marine or off grid sector will be seen as an advantage along with strong existing relationships within target marketplaces

Main responsibilities for this role include:

• providing pre-sales technical support and product education to new and existing customers in relation to products and installation, specifying suitable power solutions based on application
• Troubleshooting problems with products and systems
• liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts
• Acquiring new clients not currently purchasing from the business
• supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences.
• Testing new and existing products and ideas.
• Quoting customer and following up leads
• Opportunity to visit customers and face to face meetings (optional)


Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good experience and knowledge of low voltage DC electrical circuits with batteries (previous experience or a relevant university degree will be an advantage)
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office)
• Full driving license (no public transport to office)
The successful candidate will be based at our office in West Kingsdown, Kent. Standard working hours are 9am-5pm Mon-Fri.
