Twenty years ago this company started as a sole practitioner providing building surveying services to a small group of loyal clients, since then the business has grown in size and so has the demand for their services.
The company now stands at 15 strong with 9 building surveyors split into two teams, with one focusing on residential surveying such as building surveys and party wall matters, and the other focusing on project surveying and management across Healthcare, Education and Ecclesiastical properties.
Your new role
As an APC Surveyor your role will revolve around developing your skills as thoroughly as possible, which will be achieved through exposure to both residential surveying and building projects.
You will report into senior surveyors at the business shadowing them from instruction to instruction. You will assist in carrying out surveys, dictating and reporting on building conditions, producing specifications and schedules of work for certain projects from refurbishments to repairs and replacements, and even some new build work.
You will be tasked with carrying out measured surveys and producing AutoCAD drawings for projects as well as preparing feasibility studies with budgets.
You will learn about the party wall act and will be involved in party awards, and will gain exposure to planning submissions and liaise with building control on building work.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will need a Bachelors' Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying and ideally you will possess a minimum of 12 months industry experience.
You'll need to be determined and conscientious as well as detail oriented with strong communication and a professional demeanour.
Your written communication will need to excellent as report writing and emails correspondence will be a substantial element of your role, and you will need to be a team player who can follow instructions to the point.
Good knowledge of MS Office package including Excel and MS Project are advantageous, and AutoCAD skills are key.
