An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time District Lead for the East (Whitstable) office. Working within the Swale geographical area you will be responsible for overseeing aspects of the Statutory Assessment process in relation to requests, re-assessments, amendments and complex placement decisions, working within statutory timescales.
The post requires a working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with children, young people and families or carers of children and young people undergoing statutory assessment.
The District Lead will ensure a high-quality service is delivered to children and young people and their families/carers in relation to all processes for children and young people who have an Education Health Care Plan.
The department is an exciting environment with multiple priorities where work needs to be carried out efficiently and at a fast pace. It is therefore essential that you thrive in a highly pressured, demanding environment and have a high level of resilience.
Whilst you will not be working in an educational setting and on a 1:1 basis with pupils, the role will involve working with sensitive information pertaining to children and young people from the age of 0 to 25 years, so an understanding of GDPR is essential.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
