CAD Technician

Reports to: Technical Director

Job Purpose:

To ensure the company’s design commitments are delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost effective manner. Understands this job description is indicative, not exhaustive.

Key Performance Indicators:

 Maintain performance in line with the company’s business plan and objectives

 Office environment performance expectation is to work well in a team with the other colleagues, carry out all tasks in a professional manner and effectively communicate with both internal and external parties.

 Proactive with an enthusiasm and determination to improve yourself, the process and business where possible.

Specific Tasks

 To produce general arrangement drawings and provide technical information related to project related requirements and clients.

 Assist in drawing up detailed surveys using Auto CAD and bespoke systems.

 Prepare and amend drawings on CAD to meet the requirement of the project.

 Be able to interpret sketches and mark-ups.

 Capable of working on own initiative and to develop simple sketches and concepts in to fully working drawings.

 Plan and prioritise work schedules to meet strict customer deadlines.

 Maintain CAD library

 Keeping directory of drawings up to date and documented.

 Assisting with administrative duties.

Key Skills:

 2-3 Years of AutoCAD experience.

 Experience of drawing curtain walling systems, commercial / residential windows and doors. Beneficial but not essential.

 Extensive PC skills.

 Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

 Strong numerical skills.

 Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

 Ability to read and understand construction drawings.

 Can interpret either written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 Attention to detail.

 Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Attributes:

 AutoCAD skills.

 Experience of working in a drawing office environment.

 Highly motivated and effective team player.

 Ability to work unsupervised once trained.

 Organised and efficient.

 Excellent communication skills.

 Familiar with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications (minimum required):

 GCSE A-C Maths and English minimum.

 Current UK Driving licence.
