Thanet District Council serves the beautiful coastal towns and villages in East Kent; including Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate and Minster, providing an array of services to over 127,000 residents.

Thanet is a great place to live and work. Our historic seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs are rich in heritage and opportunity. With the multi-million pound Turner Contemporary Gallery, the fast speed rail link to London, and the popular Westwood Cross shopping centre - this is an exciting time to join Thanet District Council. We are determined to improve the quality of life for local people. We believe that by listening to local people, educational engagement, working in active partnership and by being prepared to do things in an innovative way we can accelerate improvement and best meet the challenges ahead.

All posts include generous annual leave, flexible working (some posts excluded), a 37 hour week, as well as access to the local government pension scheme.

Main Duties:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who feels passionate about the environment and has the skills to engage with the residents, businesses and visitors of the District to encourage a cleaner and safer environment by using education and relevant environmental legislation.

The role of an Enforcement Education Officer will include the need to deal with a wide range of environmental crime including littering, fly-tipping and dog fouling. You will work within a dedicated and highly motivated team within the Councils Joint Enforcement Services, in a role which includes engagement with communities, offering advice and education to people that discard litter, issuing of fixed penalty notices when appropriate, and leading on educational programmes on enforcement issues.
You will need to liaise closely with the public, partner agencies and internal departments to increase effectiveness of enforcement and education work. To include attendance at neighbourhood engagement meetings as may be required from time to time to meet the needs of the service.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate in a professional and considerate manner in such a way to avoid a negative image of the Council. If you are an enthusiastic, motivated individual committed to helping Thanet achieve a Clean and Tidy District, then we look forward to receiving an application from you.

If you are interested then please go to the Thanet District Council website. CVs will not be accepted.
