We are seeking a capable and dynamic individual for an innovative pilot project focused on helping to assess and increase virtual volunteering opportunities within the Canterbury district.
The ultimate aim of this project is to both gauge the level of current virtual volunteer opportunities and the level of access to these opportunities with the aim of seeking to extend awareness and knowledge for both organisations and potential volunteers alike.
As a Volunteer Centre, we aim to make volunteering accessible to all and see virtual opportunities as an ideal way to facilitate this particularly for people who traditionally have been unable to volunteer due to heath, mobility, income, location or disability.
This project will involve working with both individuals and organisations and will include helping to develop resources and materials related to the uptake and dissemination of virtual volunteering.
This is a one - year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Job Description: Virtual Volunteering project Administrator
• Co-coordinating the day-to-day administration of the service
• Database and spreadsheet management
• Preparation of statistics for monitoring and evaluation.
• Maintaining the online presence of the project and actively promoting this project particularly via Social Media
• Assisting in planning and arranging events
• Attending workshops, meetings and conferences
• Creation of agendas and the taking of meeting notes as required
• Keeping accurate records and handling petty case
• To undertake any other duties commensurate with this post and as required with the Centre Director
Person Specification: Virtual Volunteering project Administrator
The following outlines the minimum criteria for this role.
Applicants who have a disability and who meet the minimum criteria will be shortlisted. Applicants should describe in their CV/covering letter how they meet these criteria.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
• 5 GCSEs A* - C (including Maths and English) or equivalent
Desirable
• A levels or degree
EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in IT (Microsoft Office)
• Demonstrable Administrative Experience
• Proficient in the use of Social Media for engagement & marketing purposes
Desirable
• Experience of the voluntary sector either as an employee, committee member or active volunteer
• Experience of the Salesforce CRM
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of audiences, in both written and oral formats
• Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload to achieve deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to be flexible and work under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• IT skills – specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable
• Ability to promote project to third parties
KNOWLEDGE
Essential
• Understanding of the needs of the voluntary/community sector
• Understanding of equality of opportunity in all aspects of working practice
• Understanding of the need to engage with people who are harder to reach due to ill health, location, finance or disability

• issues affecting the community sector and community projects
• issues affecting people currently disenfranchised from volunteering due to personal circumstance
