Position Expectations
To work as a specialist orthopaedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapist responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and advice to patients within inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy service.
Role and Responsibilities
• Undertake a comprehensive assessment and formulate a diagnosis of patients who may have complex conditions including multi pathology.
• Work as an autonomous practitioner taking responsibility for the management of patients on own caseload without direct supervision.
• Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided.
• Produce clear written information and exercise programmes for patients to follow at home.
• Plan and undertake discharge of patients from physiotherapy when agreed goals of treatment has been achieved and send discharge reports to GPs and consultants.
• Ensure all patients are seen in the allocated time.
• Regularly assist in the planning and delivery of departmental training and education sessions.
• Identify gaps to service to the Physiotherapy Manager.
• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of a high standard of care to the patients.
• Assist the Physiotherapy Manager with coordination and provision of physiotherapy inpatient and outpatient services.
• Responsible for communication of complex, sensitive information to all levels of trained/untrained staff, clients and their families and carers.
• Actively participate in service improvement initiatives such as in planned research and audit.
• Take active part in implementation of change required to grow departmental and business activities of physiotherapy service.
Qualifications and Experience
• BSc or Equivalent in Physiotherapy
• Member of CSP
• Current HCPC Registration
• 5-7 years post graduate experience
• Proven clinical experience in the delivery of orthopaedic and MSK physiotherapy
• Previous experience in a supervisory/management role
• Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent) grade C or above
• Ability to travel to meet service needs
