Established for over 30 years, this charity provides support and accommodation for young people in South London who face homelessness.
Their services combine support with accommodation to ensure that after a period facing homelessness, young people move on to independence with all the skills they need to make the most of their lives.
Due to a restructure within the business, they are now looking for an Assistant Building Surveyor on a fixed term contract until mid next year.
Your new role
As part of your role you will be tasked to effectively manage property voids and maintenance, ensuring that property maintenance is carried out to the agreed standard and within agreed timescales, including managing repairs carried out by contractors and liaising with partner landlords to ensure that their repairs are carried out in line with the management agreement. Working with the Property Manager and Executive Assistant to ensure that the procurement process is followed, and the approved contractor/supplier list is maintained to ensure the client is receiving value for money goods and services. To work with the Property Manager, Executive Assistant and Operational team and landlords to ensure the opening, decanting and closure of properties are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner including maintaining property and contents inventories.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have working knowledge of relevant legislation including, Housing Law and Health & Safety. Experience of delivering Housing Management services, including liaising with contractors and procurement processes. Working knowledge of safeguarding and experience of working with vulnerable groups of people. Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evening work and ability to travel to properties across South London. You will also be required to either hold or able to hold an Enhanced DBS.
What you'll get in return
As this is a fixed term contract, you will be paid pro rata a salary of up to £26k or a contract equivalent if deemed appropriate. The length of the contract is still to be determined but will at least be until March 2020.
