The purpose of this post is to provide research support to the Centre for Health Services Studies in order to facilitate ongoing research activities. The post will support the delivery of the NHS East Kent Clinical Commissioning Groups (Canterbury and Coastal CCG, Ashford CCG) research strategy by providing research delivery, co-ordination and administration for local GP practices.
The post will establish key collaborations with other research agencies and local NHS organisations to facilitate research project delivery locally. The post will also support the research administration and co-ordination of nationally funded projects within the Centre for Health Services Studies. This may include projects within the Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey, Sussex (ARC KSS).
Applicants with research administration and/or project management experience with a good knowledge of healthcare research systems and processes will be considered. We are keen to recruit an exceptional research facilitator with the potential to play a key role in the development of new areas of primary and community care research.
As Research Facilitator you will:
facilitate the delivery of research studies through local research active GP practice clusters in East Kent to increase patient participation in clinical studies in East Kent.
support the delivery of the NHS East Kent CCGs research cluster strategy to support and develop primary care research in East Kent
report on and oversee research activity to organisations to maintain engagement with research in East Kent and amongst research active GP practices
facilitate the delivery of primary and community care clinical studies led by senior members of CHSS as appropriate to the role e.g. steering committee co-ordination, ethical applications, project management
To be successful in this role you will need:
undergraduate/first degree in a relevant discipline
knowledge of NHS or university-based research and development
experience of working with NHS Research and Development, NIHR CRN and/or university research services including planning, co-coordinating and conducting research and clinical studies
good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to handle and summarise large amounts of data from a wide range of sources, preparing and delivering presentations and reports
CHSS is involved in a range of local and national research projects. CHSS is expanding its work particularly in the areas of primary and community care and integrated care. The establishment of the Kent Academic Primary Care Unit is an example of the Centre’s commitment to these areas of research and results from our close collaborations with the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) and the Tizard Centre at the University of Kent and with local health organisations including local Clinical Commissioning Groups, Encompass the local multi-speciality provider, the CRN and Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
