About the Role
We are looking for a Full Time Cook to join our friendly Church Lane team based at our service in Bearsted, near Maidstone in Kent. The hours are 10am - 5pm 5 days a week.
Church Lane Service in Bearsted, near Maidstone in Kent has a good public transport. Bearsted is a traditional English village featuring quaint cottages, several village pubs, restaurants and a large village green which plays host to a variety of different social and sporting events.
Church Lane is a care home which provides care and support for up to 8 people with learning disabilities.
We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to lead as ordinary life as they can achieve.
Main Responsibilities
To ensure consistently high standards are maintained in food preparation, cooking and presentation.
To prepare menus that provide a balanced nutritious diet and an appealing variety of meals for residents. The menu is to include dishes that are home cooked and make choices available at each meal.
To undertake the ordering and supply of food and selected non-consumables required by the catering area.
To ensure any defects or incidents are reported to the Registered Manager as soon as possible and to leave relevant information for kitchen colleagues.
To maintain resident satisfaction with meals and service delivery.
To attend the Residents Meeting on a regular basis to receive feedback and to discuss the catering service.
To attend the weekly Staff Meeting, if not on duty at time of meeting ensure that the minutes of the meeting are read and signed to indicate you have done so.
To treat residents with the greatest of respect in all contacts.
To respect the confidential nature of information concerning residents.
To read and ensure understanding and compliance with all Homes policies and procedures.
To ensure the menu is written on the Whiteboard in the dining room at the beginning of each day and that the relevant weekly menu is displayed.
To participate in a monthly review of the menu, considering special offers, seasonal foods and feedback from the catering satisfaction forms.
PERSONNEL
To ensure good communications are maintained at all times with the Registered Manager and colleagues.
To complete a report in the handover book which is a formal record and must be used to communicate all messages and information to colleagues.
To participate in Supervision and any training that is required to maintain and develop personal and professional skills.
Health and Safety
To ensure strict compliance with all kitchen cleaning schedules and maintain a record.
To ensure correct methods of food storage (date, label system) and stock rotation.
To ensure the checking and recording of fridge/freezer and food temperatures in accordance with food safety policies and maintain a record.
To comply with all requirements of Health and Safety at Work and the COSHH regulations.
Bins are to be emptied as required, the floor is to be swept and mopped at the end of each day.
This job description is not exclusive and post holder may be asked to undertake further responsibilities after review, which may result in changes being made.
