South East Water supplies drinking water to 2.1 million customers across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. Daily, we supply 565 million litres of drinking water along more than 14,000 kilometres of mains to our customers' taps.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Hydraulic Modeller, reporting to the Hydraulic Modelling Manager, the successful candidate will be using InfoWorks WSPRO Hydraulic models of the Water Distribution System in conjunction with all the company data systems to identify investment opportunities in our water supply network to deliver efficiencies and improve our performance against measured indicators. This will be combined with developing the network to accommodate new development and changes in resource availability which may require additional infrastructure. Also temporary reconfiguration for maintenance or incident management.

Main responsibilities:
* Project management and forecasting in conjunction with budgets for Smart networks and other optimisation strategies
* Support our Leakage Strategy by improving flow monitoring, DMA reorganisation and pressure management
* Early liaison with operational staff/ Engineering/contractors
* Site visits to confirm current network configuration
* Scopes of works for minor improvement schemes to issue to Engineering
* Data requirements including pre and post scheme logging.
* Collation of asset information including as laid plans& Maximo requirements
* Scheme benefits evaluation
* Data analysis
* Communication of all network changes to Operational teams
* Assistance in planning the replacement of both trunk main and DMA meters
* Review and refine reinforcement requirements for new developments in conjunction with mains renewals, strategic mains, DMA reorganisation and the location of areas of growth
* Modelling/network assessment to support DG2 investigations and scoping of schemes within Asset Planning
* Assist with strategic scheme selection and construction
* Operational risk modelling

Other duties may include:
* Carry out simple model updating as required using GIS, Scopex, Aquanet and pressure logging software
* Calculation of interruptions property minutes
* Assess developer enquiries using all mains models and identify local reinforcement required to maintain levels of service
* Giving modelling support to other departments:
* Engineering: sizing pumps and providing information for surge analysis
* Water Quality: age of water, source of supply, direction of flow
* Operations: managing planned work and emergency incidents

Expected requirements:
* Hydraulic modelling skills are an essential requirement and preferably an appropriate degree or other technical qualification, but otherwise several years' water network experience. Project management experience is also of benefit.
* Good communication skills
* Good IT and analytical skills
* Understanding of operational and asset management aspects of the business

Please note the Hydraulic Modelling team also provide out of hours modelling support for incidents as part of a standby rota. This is normally on a one in six basis covering out of office hours. When on duty you must be contactable but if you have internet access can often carry out any analysis required remotely using a SEW laptop provided. Occasionally an incident will be escalated and you will be required to go into Head Office at Snodland.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 25 days annual leave, a stakeholder pension scheme in which the maximum Company contribution is 10% and a life assurance scheme.
