Test Manager - HP ALM, UTF - Chatham, Kent - £50,000 plus excellent benefits - ASAP Start
I am currently looking for a Test manager to join a very successful business based in Chatham, Kent. You will be responsible for the all aspects of the testing function, process improvements, system fixes, upgrades and system migrations for the core business systems.
The role holder will have excellent knowledge of the full SDLC together with several years experience within a test function covering large core systems which are critical across the business.
You will have excellent leadership and communication skills together with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders from all areas of the business and IT.
Daily duties
* Manage and contribute to the test strategy, approach and governance for each approved project and test phase for each system in line with the goals and objectives of the business. Ensure the test team adherence to the approved testing strategies, approach and governance
* Maintaining department policies and procedures in line with agreed review standards
* Supervision of the day to day operations of the test team including work allocation based upon the teams priorities
* Conducting performance reviews and regular one to one feedback reviews for each member of the team
* Facilitating the development and evaluating the training needs of the test teams
* Plan and continuously evaluate the capacity planning for the team across each project and system - highlighting resource and environmental clashes
* Ensure the testing resource create and maintain detailed test scenarios, test cases and test scripts for each project which are fit for purpose and in line with the agreed testing strategy and approach
* Ensure effective contribution to project timelines ensuring deliverables are met and delivered on time for each project and test phase. Ensure effective escalation is in place to identify and report on any slippage to testing manager timely and through project steering groups and weekly status reports
* Development and implementation of a robust environment and process for account conditioning for the core testing and business training environments
* Produce, define and monitor test metrics for each project and test phase. This will include multiple projects across multiple systems
* Attend and chair project, team and business meetings to update on progress and status of work schedule
* Attend and lead on specific third party steering meetings
* Prepare reporting and status updates for all projects across multiple systems
* Support with co-ordination of internal and external audits
* Assist with the recruitment and development of new staff
* Contribute to the functions road map delivery managing to agreed budgets and functional plans
* Assist and drive forward development of automated and manual testing strategies
* Coordinate effective environment management for all core systems used liaising with key stakeholders to ensure effective utilisation and planning
* Flexible approach to meet requirements of each testing phase - this may involve working outside of core working hours / days and potential travel (travel to India site and third parties) as and when required
* Carry out required quality checking of the team's compliance with quality standards
* Undertake ad-hoc duties as outlined by Senior Testing Manager
* Maintain the company's compliance standards and own compliance training
* As nominated Risk Champion for your function, work alongside the Risk function in developing and maintaining a risk management agenda, acting both to ensure the necessary levels of transparency for potential risks and promoting a positive culture of awareness and accountability throughout your function
* Line manage and coach all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration and recruitment
* Maintain the company's compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations
Skills required
* Strong experience in a managing a test team
* Strong experience of testing core systems and business critical applications
* Strong experience using HP quality center (ALM / UTF)
* Any Finance, Insurance or Banking experience would be highly desirable
* Excellent verbal communicator
