English in Action (EiA) is a UK based education company delivering 1 to 4 week intensive communicative English courses
in schools and centres around the world. We are looking for an experienced TEFL professional to join our Academic Team
at our head office in Canterbury, UK.

The role involves:
• Liaising with overseas schools on course requirements as they prepare to hold English in Action courses.
• Planning and tailoring courses suitable for the needs of our client schools.
• Developing, sourcing and managing the distribution of teaching materials for English in Action teachers.
• Occasional teaching, DoS, management and teacher training duties overseas.


Main Duties
1. Prepare suitable courses in line with school requests for their English in Action programmes.
2. Prepare academic notes for EiA teachers on the specific requirements of individual schools.
3. Oversee the production and distribution of EiA teaching and learning materials to our teachers.
4. Assist with EiA teacher recruitment, induction and training days and carry out observation and training sessions.
5. Assist the Academic Manager in evaluating and developing EiA programmes.
6. Maintain close relationships with EiA teachers and school organising teachers.
7. Undertake overseas teaching, teacher training, course management/DoS, teacher observation and administrative duties.
8. Assist the Academic Manager and the Academic Director with other duties as required.


Main Terms and Conditions
Salary Range: £20,000 pa pro rata
Contract Status: Fixed Term 1 Year Contract (one month notice)
Hours of Work: Mon to Fri 8.30am–5.00pm (with a one hour lunch break) based at the EiA office in Canterbury
Overseas Travel: Availability for overseas teaching and travel is essential and this will include some weekends
Annual Leave: 22 days plus Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and 8 public holidays


Person Specification

Education & Qualifications
✓ Educated to degree level
✓ Trinity College or RSA/Cambridge EFL Certificate or PGCE /BEd with a relevant subject specialism
✓ Cambridge DELTA, Dip TESOL or Masters in EFL

TEFL experience
✓ A minimum of 5 years TEFL experience
✓ Experience of teaching young learners, teenagers and adults
✓ Materials development
✓ Teaching experience in several countries
✓ Knowledge of EAP, Business English and Exam Preparation courses

Essential Key Skills
✓ Excellent written English
✓ Organised, well-prepared and reliable
✓ Extremely strong administrative skills
✓ Excellent knowledge of MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel & Outlook)
✓ Ability to work cooperatively and productively as part of a team
✓ Cultural understanding & awareness
✓ Excellent interpersonal skills
✓ Ability to travel independently

Desirable Skills
• European languages (German particularly useful)
• Design skills/familiarity with Adobe InDesign/Illustrator
• A full clean driving licence
