About us:

The South of England Rare Breeds Centre (RBC) is a busy tourist attraction with more than 130,000 visitors last year. Our Granary Restaurant serves great homemade food, using products grown on the site where possible. As part of Canterbury Oast Trust, a leading local charity, it supports the work of the Trust in its provision of first class care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex.

The Granary Restaurant also provides valuable training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities enabling them to develop their hospitality and catering skills.

The Role:

We are looking for three Restaurant and Catering Outlet Assistants to join our existing team based at our Granary Restaurant on a permanent part time contract of:

1 x 16 hours per week worked over Monday to Sunday and will normally include alternate weekend working.

2 x 6 hours per week worked on a Saturday or Sunday or alternate weekends on Saturday and Sunday

Hours will be allocated on a monthly rota basis. Additional shifts during the school holidays mainly Easter, Summer and the Half Term breaks may also be available. Shifts offered are normally between four and six hours.

As a Restaurant and Catering Outlet Assistant you will:

o Deal with the public
o Take food orders out to the tables
o Clear tables
o Maintain the seating area to a high standard
o Undertake pot-washing duties
o Work alongside adults with learning disabilities as they develop their catering and customer service skills
o Use the cash register
o Receive a full induction and training
o Receive a weekend shift allowance of £0.70p per hour


Ideally as a Restaurant and Catering Outlet Assistant you will:

o Have some general experience within a similar establishment
o Have a friendly and engaging personality
o Be a good team player able to work in a fast paced environment
o Be flexible and reliable
