Job Purpose:
To drive and protect a positive, dynamic and professional image of the business and its vision through external relations and media activities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Prepare the Communications Plan and lead on its delivery, monitoring progress and providing timely and relevant input throughout the year
• Cultivate positive relationships and provide a central corporate point of contact with the media and media/PR contacts
• Provide a daily media report to management utilising a paid-for monitoring service
• Proactively seek out and execute PR and media opportunities and ensure the most positive exposure
• Agree media handling and filming requests, ensuring that all facilitated requests provide either positive exposure for the business, good levels of revenue, or both
• Prepare and issue press releases to support corporate, project and business stream activity, marketing campaigns and community engagement
• Develop an analytics tool to monitor the effectiveness of media/social media communications and sentiment.
• Attend external meetings and events as directed
Skills, know-how and experience required:
• Degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a related area
• Track record of contributing to and delivering on a communication and marketing plan for a national business or projects of national importance
• Strong understanding of communications and media management
• Ability to manage difficult stakeholder relations and difficult communication issues
• Good knowledge of the ports and shipping industry
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Highly professional, with integrity and high personal standards
