My client is now looking for an assistant accountant on a part time basis.Supporting the Management Accountant in providing management accounting and reporting for the LLP, both internally and externally, as well as assisting with budgeting, financial accounting, audit and administration.
MAIN DUTIES
Sharing responsibility with another Assistant Management Accountant to:
Assist the Management Accountant with: Financial Reporting
Preparation of audit schedules and documentation to support the firm’s annual financial statements
Preparation of underlying schedules to support the firm’s expenditure budget
Other regular and ad hoc financial reporting, as required Management Reporting Preparation of statistical analyses of the firm’s financial performance including; • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis
Preparation of monthly expenditure reports for budget holders and assisting with forecasting upcoming expenditure
Extracting information from the firm’s financial systems to prepare other regular and ad hoc financial reports, as required Accounting Maintaining accounting records for the LLP including;
Preparation and updating of monthly and year end journal entries
Calculating accruals and prepayments • Monitoring and maintaining fixed asset schedules
Preparation of quarterly VAT returns and payment of VAT on due dates
Calculation of interest on partners’ capital Other responsibilities
Monitoring bank account balances and placing funds on deposit when required
Replying to surveys from the Office for National Statistics and other parties
Administration, electronic filing and archiving of historic files, assisting the team with other administrative duties, as required.
To provide cover for other functions as required, Providing cover for the other Assistant Management Accountant and other team members during holiday / absence.
Ideal Person:
AAT qualified or AAT studier, with a commitment to continue studies in own time
Able to communicate effectively with clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff at all levels in person, by email and on the telephone, as appropriate
Accustomed to delivering work to deadlines
Able to work without close supervision
Able to demonstrate confidentiality and integrity Skills
Technical skills and expertise to meet the practice’s standards
Methodical and well organised systems of working
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Proactive team player
Proficient in Microsoft applications with excellent Excel skills
Prepared to work on own but in co-operation with team members and carry out whatever duties are required by the team
Ability to work through periods of pressurised working and manage priorities
Willingness to go the "extramile"
HOURS OF WORK The core hours will be between 15 and 20 hours per week working afternoons Monday to Friday inclusive, ideally from 1.30pm to 5.30pm, however there is some flexibility to vary the start and finish times. Additional hours outside these may be required depending on the demands of the business.
SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary and bonus reviewed annually in May. There will be 5 weeks annual leave per annum. In addition, other benefits will be available after a suitable qualifying period: a contributory group personal pension scheme; free private medical care; free permanent health insurance; and free life cover.
