Location: The postholder will be based at Berwick House, Elwick Road, Ashford and will require regular travel across the Borough of Ashford

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

Purpose of role

Developing the Ashford Volunteer Centre volunteer transport scheme by increasing the number of volunteer drivers from rural areas and by developing a network of local transport providers that will enable us to meet more transport request from vulnerable individuals.

Main responsibilities

 Work alongside the Transport Coordinator to identify areas of need and to recruit volunteers to meet those needs – this could be people who live in rural areas, or people who are willing to
work early in the morning, etc

 Work alongside the Transport Coordinator to run regular group sessions for volunteer drivers, so they can receive training, but also to gather their feedback that will help improve the service

 Network with other organisations to help develop the transport scheme including Parish Councils, other transport providers, charities and local businesses

 Set up and run a community transport network that meets regularly to review local transport needs and develop solutions to meet those needs

 Liaise with local organisations, such as health settings, charities and local businesses to understand need for the service

 Explore and develop options for collaboration with other transport providers, including vehicle sharing, volunteer sharing, etc that increase accessibility to the scheme, in particular for
wheelchair and mobility aid users

 Run events across the Ashford district including driver recruitment sessions and awareness raising sessions

 Carry out other duties appropriate to the post’s role, responsibilities and grading.
