Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Engineer, responsible for designing new products and concepts in line with business requirements and ensuring they are ready for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design, verify, prepare, and maintain detailed technical design drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software (currently Creo) and Microsoft software packages.
* Manage multiple projects according to the NPI (New Product Introduction) plan and resolve early-stage manufacturing issues.
* Prepare Manufacturing & Process Instructions for new products and support the design and development of test rigs.
* Work closely with design briefs to resolve design details or discrepancies, and coordinate drawing activities.
* Ensure products meet design objectives and compliance standards, providing a formal handover to the Manufacturing Process Engineering group.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

* Minimum BEng level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific subject.
* Currently working towards Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a Professional Engineering Institution.
* Minimum 3 years of design engineering experience, preferably in the automotive or aerospace manufacturing industry.
* Proficient in using CREO or similar 3D CAD and product lifecycle management software.
* Experience in design for manufacture and assembly, with familiarity in NPI Gate review process/production readiness.

Desirable Criteria:

* Familiarity with AS9100, AS13100, AS9145 (APQP) standards.
* Experience with material selection, plating finishes, and understanding mechanical properties of materials.
* Knowledge of the design development process, including risk assessment and DFMEA, DFM/A.
* Strong mechanical bias with some electrical familiarity.
* Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
