Production Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Production engineer to join our client in Sittingbourne. You will ideally be educated in an engineering related discipline or with a recognised engineering Apprenticeship within a manufacturing environment. You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding and application of process engineering principles, concepts, practices and standards and have the ability to use CAD (preferably inventor) and to design processes and layouts to incorporate lean manufacturing along with an understanding of manufacturing processes and costs (ideally from a sheet metal background).

Duties include:

* Identify manufacturing needs for new products in development.
* Design new systems and processes, providing facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new/improvement products into manufacturing operations.
* Ensure all plant and equipment requirements are considered from the initial product conception to the finished result.
* Value engineer existing products and processes. Identify opportunities and generate capital expenditure proposals for justification of return of investment.
* Assist with shop floor and manufacturing cell layouts.
* Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks.
* Generating production documentation such as assembly instructions, standard work methods and work instructions.
* Support the tender process for plant and equipment to ensure specification is achieved at best quality for best price.
* Oversee installation of machinery and equipment.
* Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
* Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities to set budgets.
* Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training.
* Keep up with current and developing engineering trends.
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
* Support and lead process improvement activities.
* Write reports and present progress at project/internal meetings.
* Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
* Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
