We are working with a well-established logistics specialist to recruit a Customs Clerk to work a 12 hour night shift, with a 4 on/off working pattern. The salary would be commensurate with experience.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Customs Team Leader and will be creating customs documents, and overseeing the successful and correct clearance status of traffic moving via road and sea.

This a great opportunity for a candidate with 1 to 2 years experience, who has a good understanding of customs clearance laws and regulations, and who is seeking a position to develop in this area.

About the role:

* Managing and processing documentation and forms for the efficient and lawful execution of all customs activities
* Dealing with enquiries quickly and efficiently relating to customs procedures, tariffs, duty rates and other documentation requirements.
* Interact with customers both face-to-face or by phone/email in a professional and courteous manner.
* Liaise with importers/exporters to obtain mandatory information for import and export entries.
* Deal with any customs related complaints.
* Maintain data integrity on all systems.
* Liaise with key customs partners.
* Support and advise all customers while ensuring compliance with requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.

About you:

* Previous experience as a Customs Clerk is essential
* Understanding and knowledge of customs procedures and principles
* Previous experience using customs software is essential
* IT literate and proficient with Outlook/Excel
* Strong communication skills
* Able to work under pressure and meet time critical deadlines
* A problem solver, have good attention to detail and be an experienced team player
