Industrial Paint Chemist

You will be responsible for performing technical development and formulation of paint systems to support the achievement of our client's business goals and objectives. Based in a laboratory, and working closely with the internal technical teams, you will design, plan and conduct projects developing and improving new paint systems.

Salary is in the region of £25-30k, depending upon experience. Immediate start available. Please note, own transport is essential due to the location of the site. Hours are 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Benefits include a Workplace Pension and 28 days holiday a year (including bank holidays).

Duties to include:

* Work alongside the technical teams to design, plan, and conduct projects developing and improving new paint systems.
* Provide support for factory scale up.
* Develop understanding of technical challenges and develop solutions to overcome problems.
* Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work area.
* Comply with all safety and regulatory policies (COSHH, HSE ADVICE).
* Ensure that all equipment and materials are used in the safest possible way at all times.
* Work closely with colleagues in the laboratory team, ensuring that new products are tested to appropriate industry specifications and methods.
* Keep detailed records of work performed (lab notebook), write Completion Reports when projects are finished.
* Conduct testing and trouble-shooting process for manufacturing issues, process improvement, specification development or verifications, alternative packages etc.

The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience working with paint or paint-related products, and be educated with either A-Level/HNC Chemistry, or a Chemistry degree. You will however be considered if you haven't finished your degree. Formulation experience desired.
