Our client a multi-million T/O International organisation are looking for a talented Financial Accountant to join their team. For this role you will need good knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and experience in preparation of statutory accounts

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the main purpose of the role is to undertake the preparation and reporting of the statutory financial accounts ensuring this is undertaken in compliance with prevailing legislation, rules and policies as appropriate.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure accounting treatment adheres to current UK GAAP/IFRS policies and procedures as appropriate
- Advise Finance colleagues, the wider business and the Board on the implications of proposed changes to accounting rules
- Preparation of monthly financial accounts including Balance Sheet and Cash Flow and supporting schedules for the group of companies
- Responsibility for the accounting and reporting of, financial instruments, including fuel, currency and interest rate hedges
- Liaising with colleagues in subsidiary companies to manage the monthly, half year and annual consolidation processes
- Overall coordination of the Statutory Accounts process including:
- Preparation of the annual statutory reports and accounts for the consolidated
- Coordination of the annual statutory reports and accounts including delegation to colleagues
- Coordination of external auditors and the provision of information to them
- Liaising with, and providing information to, external advisors for taxation returns and issues in other European countries
- Assistance with the preparation of forecasts, budgets, forward plans and other required reports
- Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled with appropriate frequency and understood to ensure accuracy of reporting
- Manage the day-to-day user administration for CODA and reporting systems for all users and liaise with IT as required, including resolving queries from system users
- Preparation and submission of Corporation Tax Returns for all UK companies
- Devising and implementing tax strategies to optimize the Group’s corporation tax position
- Assist with the procurement, implementation and testing of new accounting software
- Manage and coordinate the Group’s capital expenditure processes, including:
- Administration of capex requests and approvals
- Monitoring capital projects’ expenditure versus budget and approved spend
- Reporting to Finance and operational colleagues on capital project expenditure and liaising with operational colleagues to manage overspends
- Processing all monthly capital accounting entries and reconciling capital balances
- Working with operational managers to collate capital budgets, five years plans and forecasts
- Budgeting and forecasting depreciation charges

You will be:
• A qualified and technically competent accountant (ACA or ACCA) with an excellent academic record of achievement and demonstrable commercial experience
• Recent Financial Accounting experience focusing on IFRS, UK GAAP, statutory accounts and consolidations
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Excellent IT and systems knowledge
