Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Our prestigious client, in the heart of Dover, are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team and further their QS career!

You will be responsible for assisting the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyors in carrying out QS duties. Some of these duties include: assisting with estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities, carrying out construction valuations and certification duties for maintenance works. You will also assist with Open Book accounting on projects, and resolution of contractual claims and settlement of contracts, alongside attending meetings relating to the delivery of services.

The ideal candidate:

* Educated to A-Level or higher
* Minimum of 2 years quantity surveying experience or closely related discipline
* Quantity Surveying or similar Construction related qualification (minimum of HNC level) or working towards (desirable)
* Experience of working within a project management environment
* An understanding of the NEC 3 form of Contract (desirable)
* An appreciation of the options that may be used in Commercial management of Contracts
* Good IT skills with competency in Microsoft Office suite of applications
* Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
* To have good spoken and written communication skills
* Organised, methodical, with attention to detail and accuracy
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people at all levels and willing to work in a team
* Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and with the ability to work on own initiative
* Able to co-ordinate several different projects at the same time
* A willingness to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks
* Ability to always work collaboratively and co-operatively to develop a co-ordinated and consistent approach to delivering their work
* Full UK driving licence would be preferred but not essential
* To promote an open and transparent working environment based on exemplar communication and mutual trust
* To behave in a professional, robust and considered manner, acting responsively at all times and being flexible to changed circumstances
* A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills
