Senior Lecturer in Policing

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Policing as the Course Director on our College of Policing accredited BSc (Hons) Professional Policing degree.

You will contribute to teaching and assessment, line-management within the Policing Team and have course-level responsibility for student experience, quality assurance and operational matters. Reporting directly to the School’s Director of Policing, you will work closely with other Course Directors across the suite of policing degrees, criminal justice and social science degrees offered within the School.


The post comes with the expectation to contribute to the School’s research and knowledge exchange activity, to build an active research profile, and work closely with the Director of Canterbury Centre for Policing Research to ensure close alignment between teaching and research. Candidates without existing postgraduate qualification will be supported to achieve this within the first couple of years in the role. The University also requires all senior lecturers to have FHEA status but recognising that applicants may come from a professional background, a commitment to gain this within 12 months of appointment will be acceptable.
