Join our highly-regarded team at the University's Kent Business School. We have an exciting opportunity for an IT and Technical Support Officer to join our team.

The IT & Technical Support Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of IT provision across the Division in order to provide a high-quality IT infrastructure to support education, research, innovation and accreditation requirements, as well as professional service activity, with appropriate direction from the Head of Profession (or nominee) in Information Services.

The role holder will provide frontline IT support to all staff and PhD students and act as the key point of contact for all hardware and software requirements, some of which are specialist to the Division.

The role-holder may also be required to take on other technical support within their area dependent upon skills and expertise.

To succeed, you'll need to have:

• excellent knowledge and skills within IT, particularly Microsoft packages .The role holder will also need understanding of a variety of operating systems, particularly Microsoft Windows 10 and Mac OS X 10.10 onwards. In some divisions there will be subject-specific requirements and the role holder may require competency in other operating systems, software packages and hardware solutions.

• the ability to make informed decisions on how the Division’s IT budgets are utilised against competing demands for their use.

• Solid understanding of relevant IS and GDPR policies and legislation to be able to respond correctly in specific circumstances and to allow the role holder to be able to carry out risk assessments.

• The ability to use own initiative to manage, plan and prioritise own workload and deliver excellence whilst providing a full range of services within the remit of the role whilst looking to see how IT can be used to continuously improve the operational running of the Division and support provided to stakeholders.
