Financial Controller | Maidstone or Fully Remote | £55k - £60k

Working for a large, National Charity, the Financial Controller will oversee the day to day management of the activities of the finance transactional team. Ensuring complete and accurate financial records are kept for the Charity, and delivery of complete, accurate and timely financial reports and returns to meet statutory, regulatory and executive deadlines.

You will develop appropriate financial disciplines and controls; and ensure that best practice in financial control and management is adopted throughout the team.

The transactional finance team consists of ten individuals so you must have strong management/leadership skills.

In this role you will be:

• Responsible for the teams workplan and ensuring that the teams meet their objectives within the plan.
• Leading the preparation of the statutory accounts for the charity and its subsidiary companies.
• Responsible for the internal control environment. Monitor the completion of monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts, balance sheet
control accounts, authorisation of journals etc. Bring exceptional and/or material issues to the attention of the CFO.
• Own the cashflow forecasting, working with the CFO to effectively manage short and long term cash.
• Responsible for corporation tax and VAT matters and in ensuring that all regulatory, statistical and compliance returns are submitted on
time.
• Responsible for developing and reviewing the financial policies, procedures and processes of the charity to ensure that they are fit for
purpose and fully documented.
• Produce update reports for the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee. To attend and present reports at Executive and Committee meetings
as required.
• Constantly reviewing all relevant procedures, establishing and monitoring system controls to ensure compliance with the Charity’s
Standing Orders and actively seek to improve efficiency wherever possible.
• Contributing to the development of sound financial systems, using the functionality of the software where appropriate to improve financial
processes.
