Student Support Assistants needed for an SEN Residential school - flexible working, variety of shifts

Your new company

A window of opportunity has opened to work on a supply basis through Hays in a specialist school for children and young people between the ages of 4 - 19 based in Sevenoaks. This school has residential provisions and caters for children and young people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning difficulties. There are a variety of shift patterns to cover including Wake Nights. Initially the role is on a temporary basis, however, after 12 weeks there will be an opportunity to apply directly at the school for a permanent role.

Your new role

We are looking for Student Support Assistants. Part of your responsibilities will be.
* To support students within the learning and residential environments to promote each student's intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
* To promote a caring environment and the provision of a high standard of care including washing, bathing, and mealtime assistance.
* To ensure that communication with students, staff, and other departments is effective and contributes to securing efficiency and high standards of care and personal development for students within a learning and residential environment.
* The role will include a substantial amount of moving and handling.
* To pro-actively observe and comply with all school policies and procedures relating to child protection, equality and diversity, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
* To maintain a flexible "can do" approach and be aware of and pro-actively observe all school policies.

Shifts:
Monday: 08:30am - 4pm
12:30pm - 9:30pm / 4pm - 10pm
Tuesday: 7am - 4pm
12:30pm - 9:30pm / 4pm - 10pm
Wednesday: 7am - 4pm
12:30pm - 9:30pm / 4pm - 10pm
Thursday: 7am - 4pm
12:30pm - 9:30pm / 4pm - 10pm
Friday: 8:30am - 4pm
Wake Nights - 9pm - 7:30am

What you'll need to succeed

* Has completed an accredited Moving & Handling course - ideally practical
* Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role
* DBS Certificate on Update Service or willing to have a new DBS
