Are you a finance expert with experience of managing resources and budgets and sound interpersonal and communications skills?

We are seeking a motivating team manager with excellent IT skills to join Student Services as Finance & Resources Manager, supporting the Director in the management of financial, HR, IT and physical space resources across the Directorate. You will be a good problem-solver, adept at interpreting policies and guidance and implementing new ways of working to maximise impact for this diverse area.

As Finance & Resources Manager you will:

provide financial management services, including the preparation of regular management accounts, the implementation of financial policies and development of procedures, assisting the Director with the setting of local budgets, monitoring income and expenditure, forecasting future financial needs, identifying funds for new needs and overseeing financial systems;
oversee all recruitment and selection activity, ensuring the full range of HR processes are effectively delivered;
oversee the management of physical spaces occupied by the Directorate across the Canterbury and Medway campuses to ensure that they are fit for purpose and operate effectively;
line manage the Administrator and Finance Assistant, Finance and Work Study Scheme Assistant and Data Management and E-Resource Officer.
To be successful in this role you will have:

a degree or appropriate professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, AAT or ACCA) or relevant demonstrable experience
experience of a senior administrative role ideally within higher education, with excellent ICT skills, particularly in Word and Excel spreadsheets
experience of managing resources such as physical spaces, IT equipment and event supplies for a large, multi-functional department
a high degree of initiative, willing to take ownership and self-motivated with a professional and proactive approach to problem solving
