The Chapter of Canterbury is seeking a Financial Accountant to maintain the nominal ledger and produce management accounts and reports for Canterbury Cathedral and for the Trusts and Charities over which the Chapter of Canterbury exercise control.

Based in central Canterbury, within the Precincts of the Cathedral, the post will report to the Finance Manager and the Director of Finance and Planning. We are looking for a Financial Accountant who:

- Is AAT qualified / part qualified or a member of a recognised professional accounting body;

- Has significant hands on experience in an equivalent position preparing accounts in a busy accounts office ensuring that month end procedures are carried out in accordance with agreed deadlines;

- Has demonstrable knowledge of internal controls required for an efficient and accountable accounts office;

- Has the ability to present complex financial information succinctly both verbally and in writing to non- financial managers;

- Has sound knowledge of VAT and a basic knowledge of the requirements of Charity Accounts;

- Has good IT skills to include Word, Excel and modular based financial software such as Sage Line 100, 200, 500, SAP, Exchequer or equivalent.

We are looking for candidates who are methodical, logical and accurate in their approach to work and have the ability to work to strict deadlines. You should be organised, self-motivated, discreet and able to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external contacts and colleagues.
