The Centre for Health Service Studies (CHSS) within the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research has an excellent opportunity for a Research Assistant to develop, undertake and disseminate health services research and work with collaborators on agreed projects. Current projects include ‘Unmet demand for community health services in England’, plus a number of different evaluation studies funded by Clinical Commissioning Group/integrated Care Systems, other NHS organizations and local authorities. The successful candidate will have excellent research and communication skills, and be involved in collecting and analysing mainly qualitative data, contributing to literature reviewing, and organising research activity in collaboration with project leads.

We are offering this position on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months.

As a Research Assistant, you will:

Assist in qualitative and quantitative research including helping to prepare, setup, conduct the research and contribute to writing the report of project assignments
Assist in the undertaking of literature reviews, rapid reviews and database searches
Deal with any problems which may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
Analyse and interpret the results of own research and generate original ideas based on outcomes
Participate in conferences and present/exhibit work at appropriate events
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

A postgraduate qualification in social sciences, public health or health services research or related area (or equivalent)
Previous experience of undertaking literature reviews
Previous experience of undertaking research projects through to completion
Knowledge of qualitative approaches and previous experience of applying them
CHSS is a centre of research excellence which undertakes high quality research into a wide range of health systems and health services issues at local, national and international levels. CHSS also supports and advises health care staff to develop and undertake research projects. CHSS collaborates with a wide range of partners in Kent, the UK and in other countries to improve the links between research, policy and practice.
