The Divisional HR team are currently looking for a full time HR Adviser to join our recently devolved HR team within the Division of the Arts and Humanities to cover maternity leave.

The HR Adviser is a key member of the Divisional HR team of 4; a HR Manager, HR Co-ordinator and HR Apprentice. You will work in a devolved HR structure and will need to strike the balance between implementing local HR practices, and ensuring that University policies, procedures and guidance are adhered to, enabling consistency and ultimately mitigating people related risks.

To succeed, you will have recent generalist HR experience in an employee focused role, providing HR guidance and support to line managers, without close supervision. You will be well versed in all aspects of human resources matters and possess a thorough and up to date understanding of employment legislation.

This is a generalist role and as such you'll need to be flexible in the tasks which are undertaken as part of your role.

As HR Adviser you will:
support the HR Manager in the efficient and effective delivery of a tailored HR service to the division/directorate, taking responsibility as required for the delivery of specific activities from the local people plan.
provide advice and guidance to line managers and staff on all people related matters with the aim of minimising risk to the University and maximising employee engagement
provide an effective, efficient and legally compliant case management service
proactively and efficiently manage all recruitment campaigns
work closely with the HR Coordinator and HR Apprentice, oversee the day to day delivery of the divisional HR administration service

To be successful in this role you will have/be:
CIPD Level 5/associate qualification, or equivalent prior knowledge and experience
recent HR experience in an employee focused role
a solid understanding of UK core employment legislation with the ability proactively to identify any gaps in knowledge, research and interpret as necessary to provide effective, risk-mitigated advice
significant and well evidenced knowledge and experience relating to best practice and effectiveness in recruitment and selection
