Pride in our Borough: A Borough that works for everyone

A vacancy for a one year fixed term contract has arisen in the Revenues Team of the Mid Kent Revenues and Benefits Partnership for a conscientious, motivated individual to deal with correspondence and enquiries relating to Council Tax for both Maidstone Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. The Revenues Team deals with high volumes of correspondence which needs to be turned around within the corporate timescales. This post predominately deals with billing matters including the issuing of bills, actioning moves, awarding discounts, exemptions and maintaining local taxation records.

You need to be a good communicator and have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. You will need to effectively communicate by telephone, face to face and in writing. Ideally candidates should have experience in local government. Whilst it would be desirable for you to have knowledge of the Academy Information System software package and Anite@Work Document Management system, full training will be given.

Whilst the role is based from Maidstone House, flexibility on work location will be considered and the successful candidate will be employed on Maidstone Borough Council’s terms and conditions.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

This is a full-time position on a fixed term contract for one year.

For an informal discussion please contact Council Tax Billing Team Leaders James Savage, on 01622 602221 or Paul Ross, on 01622 602219. To apply for the position please visit www.maidstone.gov.uk/jobs and complete the online application form or by phone on 01622 602555.
