£37,051 - £41,429 pro rata salary (full-time equivalent salary £39,828 - £44,534)

Brompton, Kent

Brompton Academy

Start date: September 2021

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking a Lead Speech and Language Therapist with established or developing leadership skills who can deliver a highly specialist input. This role is for 37 hours per week, term time only, plus 3 weeks to be worked during school closure periods, and is being offered on a permanent basis. The salary offered is equivalent to Band 7.

As a Lead Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), you will ensure effective delivery of the Speech and Language Therapy service through professional leadership, operational management, supervision and guidelines to Speech and Language Therapy staff. You will have the opportunity to shape and develop a growing service with the opportunity to redesign service delivery. For this role, you will be a fully qualified SLT with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working autonomously as a clinician in the service area of school-aged children.

The role involves working within our current inclusion team to deliver a specialist integrated speech, language and communication service to secondary-aged SEND students. The Lead SLT will work jointly with the SLT, departmental specialists and mainstream colleagues to provide a high-quality, efficient and effective service to our students.

The role of the Lead SLT is vital for a significant number of our students, particularly for those students with EHCPs and/or underlying SLCN in mainstream and in our specialist provision, the Eliot Centre which is based at Brompton Academy. You will have the opportunity to develop special areas of interest in SLCN and will be able to access suitable CPD to develop your role and professional practice.

We are looking for a vibrant and energetic individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students and who will engage with working as part of a highly committed and effective team. You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and outside agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to work with students from upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5, and to support and provide training to empower our staff to integrate specialist interventions and techniques into the classroom.

The successful applicant will be coming to a multi-academy trust-wide supportive learning environment characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down-to-earth) leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people.
