It's an exciting but challenging time for the bus sector as we begin to rebuild our business after the Covid pandemic. Innovative thinking and partnership working will be key to getting customers back on buses and the Marketing Manager will be at the heart of our business recovery strategy. You'll need to be prepared and willing to make tough decisions in a challenging environment as we face the biggest shake up of passenger transport in the UK for a generation. You'll have a natural capacity to understand what it takes to achieve our aims and a determination to follow through and deliver on them. You'll be a flexible thinker with confidence in using insight and analysis to inform and adapt our strategy. You'll be totally dedicated to seeing things through our customers eyes and understanding exactly what they want and think, to ensure we make commercial and business decisions that make the biggest difference to our bus passengers.
Purpose
The Marketing Manager will be the main marketing representative for the company. They will build the strategy, lead on the delivery and implementation of all marketing campaigns and analyse results for lessons learned and future improvement. The Marketing Manager will also support the Commercial Director in building B2B relationships, in particular tourist stakeholders and support and advise on commercial decisions based on customer insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end to end process of the promotion, communication and reporting of any marketing initiatives.
- Own the strategy of all marketing campaigns – advise the Marketing Officer of plans, milestones and key target markets for each marketing campaign.
- Maintain and maximise existing relationships with local tourism boards, marketing agencies and other suppliers; attending meetings as appropriate
- Seek out new, and develop current B2B relationships for corporate ticket sales
- Support the Commercial Director to develop the fares and ticketing strategy – all changes to tickets, be that a change in price, change in payment method, change in validity or a completely new initiative.
- Constantly review customer insight data to review customer wants and trends, to help design and embed a customer strategy that exceeds the expectations of our customers.
- Always look for new initiatives and opportunities to increase our audience and grow patronage.
- Support the Communications Manager with the decisions around sponsorships, PR opportunities and general external communication.
- Be the direct contact with the central marketing team regarding central campaigns and our potential involvement in them. Attend virtual calls and physical meetings with the central team and other Stagecoach operating company representatives and delegate tasks as appropriate to the Marketing Officer.
- Ensure that marketing activities, under the control of the Marketing Officer, are being carried out in a cost effective and suitable manner, that results are being measured, optimised and communicated, and that effective communication channels are used to maintain high level awareness of marketing activity and success.
- Leadership and management of the Marketing Officer with monthly 121s and annual performance setting.
- Compile, manage and track the company marketing budget.
- Attend and present at business reviews.
- Any other activity as reasonably requested by the company Directors.
