Are you a qualified accountant with excellent staff management experience, who is keen to oversee the operation of a busy research accounts team? As Research & Innovation Accounts Manager you will lead and actively manage the Research & Innovation Accounts team, and be responsible for the post-award financial and project management of externally funded research & innovation projects.

In this role you will ensure good accounting practice and provide financial information and advice for research & innovation projects using the Unit4 Business World Finance PCB system and other internal research & innovation management systems. You will be expected to play an active part in the Research and Innovation Services (RIS) Operations senior management team, helping to shape policy and procedures in light of the changing environment in the sector.

As Research & Innovation Accounts Manager you will:
• be responsible for the effective and efficient handling and reporting of research & innovation project finances on behalf of the University, ensuring that funds are maximised for the purposes for which they were obtained.
• Ensure that Divisions are provided with effective management reporting including reports on all research & innovation income and expenditure by project and investigator as well as developing standard and ad hoc finance reports using available systems
• Lead the team to work in a collaborative way to enable prioritisation of workflow and staff development in personal and technical skill sets and provide clear leadership and direction for the team

To be successful in the role you will have/be:
• CCAB (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland) Professional Qualification
• Substantial post qualification experience, with experience of managing, motivating and leading staff
• An understanding and/or appreciation of the HE sector and the key challenges and strategic issues facing research and innovation in a HE environment
• Management of multi-million pound finances comprising of numerous funding streams
