Gravesend, Kent

Porchlight

Closing date: 9th November 2020
Interview Date: 13th November 2020

About us: Porchlight is a charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerable and isolated. At Porchlight, we are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.

The role: People with a severe mental illness are more likely to have poor physical health, being at much greater risk of diabetes and obesity as well as having a considerably reduced life expectancy.

We’re looking for an experienced health professional to manage our new Severe mental illness and wellbeing service which supports people (aged 18+) who have severe mental illnesses and helps them to improve their health outcomes.

As manager of the service, you should have strong experience of working in a clinical setting and experience of supporting people in the community (or an interest in doing so).

You will manage a small team of staff, develop relationships with both Primary Care Networks, and primary and secondary care mental health services in the area, and help this to become an established support service in Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Swale. You will also ensure this service reflects the current best working practices, and provide staff with advice, guidance and training.

This role requires:
- Someone who is a registered health professional
- Experience of working in a clinical setting
- Strong clinical skills and the willingness to oversee competence in others
- Strong collaborative working skills and the ability to also work independently
- The ability to motivate and influence others
- Experience of training and developing a team (useful but not essential).
- A driving licence and use of a car (subject to the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act).

Benefits: As a member of the Porchlight team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:
- free life insurance
- flexible working hours
- 25 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 days after 5 years service)
- Porchlight pension scheme
