About Jee and the role

Jee is a leading independent multi-discipline subsea engineering and training company operating in the global oil, gas and renewables industries. Our Finance team is integral to our operations and we are therefore seeking a Fixed Term Finance Manager to cover a 12 month maternity leave.

This is a hands-on role with a direct reporting line into the Finance Director. You will liaise with all areas of the business and be responsible for the full range of day to day finance activities. In particular, you are accountable and responsible for delivering the monthly finance report and for managing all accounting processes. In addition, you will play a leadership role for the broader team and line manage up to three team members.

A detailed overview of the role’s responsibilities is listed below.

Responsibilities
• Manage the Credit controller and ensure that invoices are issued promptly and that debtor day targets are met through proactive credit control
• Manage the Accounts assistant to ensure purchase orders are issued in accordance with finance processes and manage supplier payments
• Pay our staff and contractors, and manage the PAYE payroll
• At month end and year end reconcile the nominal ledger, sales ledger, purchase ledger, timesheets, project accounting, payroll, and balance sheet
• Prepare the monthly management and financial accounts.
• Prepare ongoing project accounts and close-out profitability analyses in conjunction with the Management Accountant
• Write the monthly finance reports for the management team, and crucially, deliver this on time every month.
• Consult with the management team to produce the annual budget, including profit and loss, balance sheets and cash flow projections, based on business plan targets. This is reforecast on an as required basis.
• Liaise with the company accountants/auditors to produce the annual accounts
• Manage cash flow highlighting any concerns to the Finance Director
• Ensure that finance controls and procedures are adhered to throughout the organisation
• Lead the implementation and development of a new finance system
• Provide finance training to staff as appropriate.
• Adhere to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct – be an Ambassador of Jee.

Supervision and leadership
• Manage the finance team, currently consisting of a Management Accountant, Credit Controller and Accounts Assistant.
• Coach, mentor, motivate and develop direct line reports to be as effective as possible in the short, medium and long term using tools and methods such as the behavioural capability frameworks where appropriate.
• Provide timely and appropriate feedback on progress against performance targets and behavioural capability standards in the short term.
• Ensure line management activity such as goal/target setting, PDRs, inductions, absence and exit processes are completed in a timely and effective manner for all line reports as necessary.
• Ensure you are an exemplar of the Jee values and behavioural capabilities.

Qualifications and experience

Essential
• Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Relevant experience gained within a similar environment
• Right to work in the UK
• Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel
• Experience of line management within a small – medium size team
• Demonstrable experience of building effective relationships and collaborating with stakeholders at a range of levels
• Able to communicate well in both written and verbal format
• Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
• Commercially aware with a growing level of business acumen

Desirable
• Experience of working within an Engineering/multi project environment
