Wellbeing Manager Role

Ashford School is a dynamic, thriving co-educational day and boarding school. Pupils range from 3 months to 18 years.

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated, forward thinking individual who will be an important part of our pastoral team who has a genuine interest in supporting and helping young people. The role of the ‘Wellbeing Manager’ will very much be part of daily school life. Wellbeing is central to all that we do in School as we recognise that happy contented children (and staff) thrive. We want the successful candidate to develop this role across the whole School – Prep and Senior - with the support of the Wellbeing Practitioner.

The successful applicant will be a qualified counsellor holding a diploma (level 4 as a minimum) and be BACP accredited. The role will be varied; the successful candidate will be expected to work directly with children on a 1-2-1 basis as well as developing and coordinating group sessions too. The Wellbeing Manager will work in collaboration with the Health Centre team and the Pastoral Leaders’ Team. The Wellbeing Manager will also support the wellbeing of staff across the whole School by providing guidance and initiatives.

The successful candidate will have previous management experience as well as experience in working with young people from 5-18years, with a variety of emotional difficulties. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work well within a team as well as independently. A flexible approach to workload is essential, as well as being adaptable to change. The ability to write accurate reports and use a range of communication techniques skilfully is also essential.

A knowledge of safeguarding and child protection is essential to this role.
Candidates must also hold a full UK driver’s license and be prepared to work across both school sites.
Salary by negotiation and dependent on skills, attributes and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Note - We reserve the right to interview and offer to a strong candidate prior to the closing date. It is strongly recommended that candidates submit their applications as soon as possible.

Ashford School is one of the UK's leading coeducational, independent day and boarding schools, having twice been voted Independent School of the Year. The School was endorsed as excellent in every category during the most recent inspection.

Ashford School is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life-changing education across England. As a group, we achieve more by sharing than any single school could.

Ashford School is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
