We’re an ambitious digital agency looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to join us for a 1 year fixed term contract.

We are selected by some of the UK’s biggest brands and companies and have a great reputation for delivering full service, complex digital projects. Our clients include ITV, Royal Collection Trust, the National Crime Agency, Shepherd Neame, Amazon Web Services, the Food Standards Agency, Tony Blair Institute, Zoological Society of London, Southbank Centre, and University of Derby.

Deeson is part of The Panoply - a group of companies that work collaboratively with clients to solve complex business problems. Our sister agencies include Manifesto, Notbinary and FutureGov. We’re growing quickly and need someone to work with the leadership team to make sure we always have accurate information, not just for Deeson but also managing accounts for three other companies within the group.

You will be supported by a non-exec Finance Director and a Finance and Operations Assistant.

We’re assuming the role will be full-time but we’re open to discussing a four day base contract with the right candidate. The role will be Canterbury-based (we have free parking) but takes advantage of our flexible and distributed work model.

Your day-to-day role will consist of the following:

*Finance*

Overseeing the work of the accounts assistant

Reconciliation of all balance sheet control accounts

Reconciliation of inter company balances

Cash flow forecasting

Credit control - ensuring all invoices are paid within the agreed terms

Audit preparation and assist with auditor queries

Review project invoicing, ensuring projects are within budget and signed off by the client

Manage cash bank balances, credit cards and staff expenses

Maintain fixed asset register

Update revenue pipeline for group

Maintaining Xero accounting package

Payment of supplier invoices

Reporting on weekly KPI’s

Preparation of quarterly VAT returns

Helping prepare year end financial statements

Management of external payroll provider

Implement systems improvements

Preparation of month end journals including accrued and deferred income to ensure correct revenue recognition

Monthly management accounts preparation, including updating the forecast for the remainder of the financial year

Submitting the management accounts to our aim listed parent company and answering any questions they may have


*Operations*

Manage staff holidays & time off

Issue new staff contracts

Issue new client contracts

New team member onboarding (set up) & offboarding

Manage staff benefits

Oversee ISO certifications & consultancy



You’ll ideally have:

Minimum 2 years hands-on experience working within a finance department

Experience of monthly accounting processes and routines

AAT qualified and/or studying towards chartered (CIMA/ ACCA)

Team player with an enthusiastic and positive attitude

Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure

The ability to work on your own initiative
