Learning Support Practitioners (Hadlow and Mottingham vacancies)

Salary: £15,961 pa (pro rata for part time), plus Outer London Weighting in Mottingham (£1,393 pa, pro rata)

Hours: Various part time hours spread over the working week. 36 weeks per year, Term Time only

Locations: Hadlow and Mottingham

We are looking to recruit experienced Learning Support Practitioners (LSPs) to join the Additional Learning Support Team at our Hadlow and Mottingham campuses. If you are ambitious, determined and have the ability to make a positive difference we would welcome your application.

As a LSP you will provide academic and motivational support in and outside of the classroom to students with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities and sensory impairments, including; autistic spectrum condition, ADHD, speech, language and communication, complex and specific learning difficulties, physical and medical conditions, visual impairment, and social emotional and mental health.

Roles and responsibilities include providing one to one or group support in a classroom, practical or workshop setting, out on work experience, and during unstructured time. There might also be a requirement to assist students with their mobility and physical access around the campus and/or provide personal care.

As Hadlow is a rural College you will be expected to spend some time supporting students across all faculty areas, including outdoor activities and tasks related to land based activities, livestock, animals and reptiles.

Timetables will span over the five days Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm pm although times and days may vary. We can offer various times and days to suit the successful candidates.

Candidates will need to demonstrate proven experience of working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and preferably hold a level 2 or 3 learning support qualification or be prepared to undertake the appropriate training. You must be able to provide proof of a minimum Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in maths and English, and have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite or a willingness to undertake training.

In addition to the minimum requirements detailed above you will need to demonstrate that you can work as part of a team and be flexibly to meet the business and department need.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) and to provide proof of their right to work in the UK. Where applicable a prohibition check will be carried out.
