Are you a qualified accountant (CCAB) with experience in a financial or management accounting role? Do you have strong skills in presenting financial analysis and information to a range of non-specialists? If so, and you are interested in being part of the success of the new Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS), please read on.

We are now recruiting to the Finance Manager position and we are keen to hear from suitably qualified people who can also demonstrate skills in managing relationships, influencing and communicating to a high standard with the ability to work in a start-up environment. You will put to use your professional knowledge and judgement to advise within and manage a complex financial environment comprising partner hospital trusts and GP practices, NHS and higher education funding bodies, plus two universities.

As Finance Manager you will:
- provide professional financial management support and ensure compliance with financial regulations and procedures
- support the Dean and Senior Leadership Team in strategic planning and financial forecasting
- provide a professional finance and accounting link to the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University and partner NHS trusts
- provide leadership and administrative support in the area of finance, acting as Secretary of the Finance and Infrastructure Group
- take responsibility for identifying and mitigating financial and other risks related to KMMS

As KMMS evolves, so will the role.

To be successful in this role you will need:
- to be a fully qualified accountant (CCAB)
- substantial relevant work experience in a financial or managing accounting role, including preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial planning
- experience of analysing and presenting financial information
- excellent communication and report-writing skills
- adaptability and readiness for the challenge of starting a medical school from scratch

Our vision for KMMS is to create a new medical school for Kent and Medway that becomes a beacon for first-class medical education and research. The School will attract the most talented aspiring doctors from within the local community and beyond, offering training and development opportunities that will help to keep that talent in Kent and Medway. Lead by its Founding Dean, Professor Chris Holland, the School will open in September 2020, offering 100 undergraduate medical places on a yearly basis.
