South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has a vision to ‘support our staff to provide a caring, high quality and efficient urgent and emergency care service to our communities’.

Our 3,500 staff provide services to 4.7m people across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and North East Hampshire. We handle over 1 million calls to 999 and 1 million calls to NHS 111 every year.

The SECAmb 111 service is currently expanding, and we need dedicated and passionate Call Handlers to join our team in our 111 Contact Centre in Ashford, Kent.

If your answer is YES to the questions above, then working for SECAmb as a 111 Health Advisor (Call Handler) could be the role for you!

As a 111 Call Handler (Health Advisor) you will be answering telephone calls directly from the public and health care professionals, directing the caller to the most suitable service to meet their needs. This may include escalating certain patient calls to our Clinical Advisors and/or dispatching an ambulance in the case of an emergency or referring patients on to other available services.

Successful applicants will demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient focused service.
You must possess excellent communication skills, be customer focused and be competent with IT, as you will be entering important data into our e-based communication call handling systems.

Successful candidates must possess GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications) at Grade C or above (2018 Grade 4).

We can offer full or part time hours - between 15 - 37.5 hours per week.

If you are successful, you will complete our 6 week comprehensive NHS Pathways training, whether you are applying for a full time or part time position.
Training weeks 1 - 3 will be working Saturday & Sunday – 9-5pm, Wednesday and Thursday 2-10pm and Friday 12-8pm, week 4 will be various shadow shifts and then weeks 5 and 6 will be back to Saturday & Sunday – 9-5pm, Wednesday and Thursday 2-10pm and Friday 12-8pm.
